Men’s Lacrosse at Cambridge University
President’s Welcome
Welcome to the Cambridge University Men’s Lacrosse Club!
We are proud to be the oldest university lacrosse club in the UK and one of the oldest in the world, dating back to 1882. We represent the university in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league and cup every Wednesday during term time. These matches are open to our members who are affiliated to the university. Our matches are every week from September to April, with a break for Christmas. We also train up to three times a week – you can find more details on the Training Page.
Our biggest event of the year is The Varsity Match against O*ford University, which we have been playing since 1903, with the exception of the World War years. Men’s Lacrosse is the oldest Half Blue sport at Cambridge, with 2025 yielding our first 3 Full Blues in recent memory. Following on from our victory in the Varsity Match this year, we will be eagerly anticipating a fierce title defence in 2026.

We are always looking for new players of any ability to join our club. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you will find a place in our squad. Lacrosse is a fun, fast-paced, and exciting sport that will challenge you physically and mentally. You will also make lifelong friends and enjoy our social events throughout the year. If you are interested, please contact the a member of the Committee.
We also have a dedicated Alumni Association, the XVI Club, which was established in 2010. The club is named after an old society within the CULC, and its purpose is to connect alumni and support the current club. The XVI Club hosts a reception at The Varsity Match, an Annual Dinner in May, and other events throughout the year. All Cambridge Lacrosse alumni are welcome to join these events. To get in touch, please email Jacob Powell, who will direct you to the XVI Club.
